A Transportation Heritage Spanning Generations

The Bernd family’s involvement in transportation began more than a century ago:

1916: The Bernd family enters the trucking industry in Wisconsin.
1930s–1940s: Roy Bernd Sr. works in motor freight during the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam.
1955: Roy Sr. establishes M.E. Mayflower in Moses Lake, WA.
1965: Acquisition of Fairchild Moving & Storage in Yakima, WA – establishing our local roots.
1974–1975: Bob and Doug Bernd expand operations.

They were professional, honest, timely, and above all careful.They wrapped our furniture, packed my china, and made sure all of it got there in one piece. They padded doorways and covered floors to protect my home. I think there were 3 different handtrucks to handle what ever I asked them to move. I can't recommend Bernd Moving enough. They were fantastic and helped make our local move as smooth as possible. We have a very expensive and large fish tank that needed extra care when moving. Curtis took a lot of time talking with us and recording video of the tank and directions for the best way to move it when he came to give us his quote. We moved everything in the tank, but Andy, Joe, and Josh moved the tank and stand. They truly understood how important this tank is to us (tank shown in pic). Everything else in the house was handled with care and they double checked where we wanted everything before placing it. Bernd help settle me in when I first arrived in Yakima in 1993. So I reached out and was glad I did. Curtis runs the show now, but the same type of friendly professional team took care of me. I cannot say enough about the moving crew that packed, loaded and delivered my goods. To see them work as a team, communicate with me and each other was a huge plus. I have used them in past years, so I am familiar with their quality of work & would not consider using anyone else.I needed to have an upright piano that is over 100 years old moved and a handcrafted hutch and mirror almost 8’ long & from the same time period. Given the age of these items I was concerned about moving both pieces, but Will, Jerry and Micah made it look easy - a fabulous team!Plus, the morning of the move I called Annette to ask if I could add another address to the work order - to pick up another piece of furniture and drop off at the address where the piano and hutch were being picked up. Bernd Moving helped me move from Yakima to a small town in the middle of nowhere. Curtis was an awesome person to work with. He worked tirelessly to find a place for my crates to be stored for several months while my housing was delayed. He was flexible and accommodating when my plans changed. He was even able to find movers to drive 100 miles from their storage unit to deliver my household goods. I also asked for my Tempur-pedic mattress to be transported on its side, which is not recommended and can seriously damage the mattress. I signed a waiver of release specifically for this, but Curtis and his crew packed that crate so well (like Tetris), that is arrived in perfect condition! Also, nothing was broken or damaged, unlike other moves. Usually something is broken or damaged. Bernd Moving company are the best movers I have moved with. I wish they were here in California!

I used this company to move my things out of a storage unit in Yakima to my new apartment in Utah. I've been travelling for work and no longer lived in WA, but hadn't been able to get my stuff from the storage unit. Since I was already living in Utah, I had to drive 11 hours to get to my storage unit to meet for an estimate, and just assumed I'd have to drive back again eventually for the actual move of my stuff. However, Curtis was nice enough to figure out a way for my stuff to be moved out the next day so that I wouldn't have to make a second trip. He also spent a lot of time going over my options and the pricing, so it was very clear. The very friendly movers (sorry, forgot their names) came the next day and emptied out my 10x15 storage unit in about two hours. My stuff arrived a few weeks later, earlier than expected. The movers, John and Brian, were super friendly and professional, and were very careful with my things. They had all my stuff moved into my apartment in a little over two hours. I originally didn't even consider using a moving company, and thought my brother and I could eventually get it all, but I'm so glad I didn't even attempt that (especially in the winter time). Bernd moving systems made the process so easy and it was such a relief for me to finally get all my stuff out of there. I also appreciated the phone calls for updates on when my stuff would arrive.I didn't use their packing services since my stuff was already in boxes, but my mom used this company a few months ago for her move from her apartment in Selah WA to where she is now in Florida. I was there with her when the packer arrive (Tina) and I was impressed with how efficient and organized she was in getting everything packed up and labelled. The movers came the next day and loaded it all into the truck within a few hours. She was very impressed and it was her recommendation that led me to using this company.

Being given a firm quote, upon review of our possessions which were in multiple mini storage units, greatly reduced our anxiety levels to start. Then, watching the obviously well-experienced driver and crew load our things with great care and expertise took care of any residual concerns about using a moving company (a first for us as we'd always done our own moving). Finally, the same driver with a different crew showed the same care with unloading and placing our things where we wanted them. I honestly couldn’t have asked for better movers! They know what they’re doing when it comes to packing ALL your belongings into the moving truck. We had a very good scheduling and packing experience with Bernd Moving Systems. The planning was excellent, and Berndt was able to accommodate our specific timing needs. The packers did a fantastic job. John was very good, and we we were especially impressed with Tina who packed the fragile houseware, stemware, and china. Everything was very well packed, and we had no breakage of fragile items during transport. Very impressive. Curtis, who did the estimating and coordinating, was good to work with and planned everything perfectly. The reason for the four star rating (not five) was that the weight estimate was more than two thousand pounds over the actual weight, which increased our cost. We would have liked a more accurate estimate from an experienced professional, but overall, we were very satisfied with the services provided by Berndt.

I hired some guys from this Agent, but the owner was so desperate to sell me his truck for doing a shuttle. The job was not even United but he was interrupting the guys like if it was his job. I strongly suggest you go with a more professional company. This owner is strap for cash and would do anything to get money, trying to embezzle a poor over the road driver. One of the guys was his first day and another was his 3rd week. I regret calling this agent. Never again..

Overall excellent experience. Overestimated the weight by 10%, perhaps that is industry standard. Very pleasant on both ends of the move. Packed very well. Only glitch was they were an hour late.
